Employee Development and Performance Management

HR Software

Training expenditure is often loosely managed within organisations, and HR self-service can make a significant difference in improving efficiency, not least by imposing controls on the authorisation process through automated workflows. But the potential benefits extend beyond process control.

To begin with, allowing employees and managers to browse training libraries and course outlines often improves the chances of matching real need to supply – one reason training budgets are often poorly spent is the difficulty of getting access to up-to-date information about relevant programmes.

Similarly, self-service makes it easier to connect training administration to performance appraisals, helping to tie together two disciplines that are always closely associated in principle but often poorly connected in practice. Manual performance management systems tend to be front-loaded – a training request may be triggered after an appraisal, for example, but administrative delays and other work priorities mean that development programs are often not fully implemented. By logging appraisal data and supporting documentation online, it becomes much easier for both managers and employees to monitor follow-ups.

It’s the Bomb

Alcoholic beverages are as popular as ever. Go to any university bar, fraternity party, or beach bonfire and you will find the youngest and hippest drinkers partaking in the very latest craze in the booze world. At one time it was beer bongs, then keg stands, then shots. Today, the hottest craze in the drinking world is the bomb shot.

A bomb shot is more than just a simple shot of liquor. It consists of a shot of liquor combined with another drink, often an energy drink or some sort of juice. The non-alcoholic portion of the drink is called the “wash.” The bomb shot can be made in two ways. The drink can be served “clean,” which means that a shot glass full of liquor is dropped into a full glass of some other beverage. The drinker then attempts to drink the whole thing down without having the different liquids mix. The bomb shot can also be served “dirty,” which means that the liquor shot is mixed in with the other liquid and everything is drank together.

Bomb shots are very popular, but some are more popular than others. The most popular bomb shot is probably the “Jager Bomb.” This drink is made of a shot of Jagermeister (a licorice flavored liqueur from Germany) and a can of Red Bull energy drink. Yes, it certainly does sound appetizing. The Jagermeister is poured into a shot glass and the Red Bull energy drink is poured into a standard glass. The shot is then dropped into the cup of Red Bull, and the drinker goes to town. As truly awful as this concoction sounds, it is extremely popular in bars across the world.

Another very popular bomb shot is the “Irish Car Bomb.” Despite the fact that car bombs caused a lot of death and destruction during the troubles between the English government and the Irish separatists, nobody seems to take offense to the name of the drink. The “Irish Car Bomb” is made of ¾ of a pint of Guinness beer, and one shot glass containing equal parts Irish crème and Irish whiskey. Like the “Jager Bomb,” the shot is dropped into the glass of beer and given to the person who ordered it. This drink is a little more potent due to the fact that both the shot and the wash are alcoholic beverages.

Bomb shots come in many more varieties. If you have some sort of alcohol, some sort of energy drink or juice, and a desire to mix them together and drink the entire concoction very fast, you can make a bomb shot. Fruit flavored vodkas mixed with Red Bull or other energy drinks are readily available at most bars. Due to the increasing popularity of this drink style, you can even purchase “bomb sets” which include a shot glass and a pint glass. This allows you to enjoy your favorite bomb shot drink at home. Nobody knows what the next fashionable drink craze will be, but for now you do not have to worry about looking silly if you order a bomb shot.

Flame Choices

Televisions have evolved quite a bit since their inception in the 1950’s. While many advances in technology seem to make things smaller (cellular phones, laptop computers, personal music players), sometimes it seems as if the advances in television technology have made the televisions of today enormous. While the flat screen liquid crystal display (LCD) and plasma televisions on the market today may be much slimmer than their vacuum tube predecessors, the amount of screen space is just as big, if not much larger.

When television broadcasting made the move to high definition television, many households made the decision to purchase one of these flat screen televisions. However, this exciting new purchase comes with some unique problems. One such problem is: where are you going to put this gigantic television? Well, while you are trying to find a solution to this problem, why not spruce up the room the television is in at the same time? You may think this is easier said than done, but actually you can do this in one simple purchase. Choose an entertainment center electric fireplace for your large screen television and you will not only have a beautiful place to put your new television, but you will give your room some added comfort and ambiance.

There are several makes and models of entertainment center electric fireplaces to choose from. A few models manufactured by Classic Flame are described below.

Classic Flame makes several models of entertainment center electric fireplaces to choose from. You can choose the Anaheim model for a sleek, classic look. The Classic Flame Anaheim has a twenty three inch firebox and a built-in multi-function media cabinet with hinged doors with clear glass. The Anaheim model includes the new Fire FX insert from Classic Flame. The Anaheim is available in a dark espresso finish.

Classic Flame also makes an entertainment center electric fireplace called the Beverly. This model features shelves on each side, and a long audio / visual rack for all of your television components above the firebox. It also features a multi-function remote that will control the flame effects and thermostat levels of your electric fireplace. The Beverly requires no exterior venting, so it can be placed on any wall of your home. It plugs into a standard household 120-volt outlet, and is very easy to assemble. The Beverly comes in cherry, oak, and espresso finishes.

Another popular model of entertainment center electric fireplace made by Classic Flame is the Glendale. The Classic Flame Glendale Corner Entertainment Center Fireplace is available in both Oak and Cherry finishes. A media shelf with wire management channels will allow you hook up your audio / visual components with minimal hassle. The front side is forty two inches wide, which will give you plenty of room for that flat panel television. A 4,600 BTU heater allows you to provide supplemental heat to a room up to twenty feet by twenty feet, or four hundred square feet. This Media Center Electric Fireplace includes the all new Fire FX insert.

Genetic Counseling

Genetic Counseling

In recent years tremendous progress has been made in the development of genetic tests to diagnose heritable diseases.  You may wish to consult your physician about genetic counseling if:

  • You have a family history of hereditary disease or mental retardation of unknown origin
  • You are a woman over the age of thirty-five
  • You have had a previous child with a chromosomal or other genetic disorder of any birth defects
  • You have had three or more miscarriages or a stillbirth

If you have any concerns, ask your physician. If you are considered to be at risk for passing on a hereditary disease to your children, you can receive genetic counseling.  A genetic counselor will ask you about your personal and family medical history.  Blood tests may be necessary to help determine whether you are a carrier of a heritable disorder.  You may be advised about the chances of transmitting hereditary illness to your offspring.

If you are pregnant, the well-being of your fetus can be assessed by several procedures:

  • Ultrasonography.  High frequency sound waves are used to produce images of the placenta and fetus.  It is a painless procedure and can detect gross defects, especially of the heart, bones, brain, and spinal cord.
  • Amniocentesis. Many genetic diseases can now be diagnosed prenatally with the use of amniocentesis.  A small amount of amniotic fluid, the liquid that bathes the baby in the uterus, is withdrawn and analyzed.  Amniocentesis is usually performed between the fourteenth and eighteenth weeks of pregnancy.
  • Chorionic Viilus Sampling [CVS].  This technique is still under investigation.  A few fetal cells from the chorionic villus, a part of the placenta, are withdrawn and analyzed for the presence of a few select diseases.  The advantage of CVS is that it can be performed earlier than amniocentesis.  The disadvantage, currently the risks of infection and miscarriage after the procedure appear to be higher than for amniocentesis.
  • Fetoscopy is a procedure wherein the fetus is directly observed within the uterus by use of special lenses.  During fetoscopy fetal blood can be sampled.  These procedures are currently performed only at a few medical centers for prenatal diagnosis of a limited number of serious diseases.
  • Radiography.  X-ray films are occasionally used because they can be helpful in detecting certain skeletal abnormalities.

Remember that the diseases described in this section are rare. Most expectant parents can look forward to the arrival of a healthy baby.  If you are pregnant or hope to be and have any worries about the well-being of your future child, don’t hesitate to address them to your doctor.

Is Hong Kong ready for vocational education?

Vocational education HK

ITS Tutorial School Hong Kong now offers a variety of support services for those people wishing to undertake a vocational orientated career. Please visit our website to see how we may be able to help you.

Vocational Education in Hong Kong – There has been much talk in Hong Kong education circles in recent times about the need for work-related learning experiences for senior secondary students. While some students in International schools might do a week or two of ‘work experience’ during their school career, there is very little in the way of integrated, structured programmes which exist elsewhere. This in part may stem from the almost universal desire by Hong Kong students to attend university. The reality is though many students will not be able to achieve the necessary results to gain a university placement.

In support of the need for vocationally-based learning which articulates with school while providing credits towards workplace qualifications, the situation which exists in Australia is described. In Australia, almost half of all senior secondary students participate in some form of workplace training – gaining the participants credit which can be used in both a secondary school context and a tertiary one.

However, the situation in Hong Kong in terms of wages, salaries and study is very different to Australia. Many of the work placements Australian students join incorporate service industries such as retail training, hospitality or other entry level service roles.

In Hong Kong, many parents would not welcome training in such low paying jobs. Hong Kong universities are also unlikely to give credit for learning which involves these sectors.

Structured vocational learning is not necessarily something which can be adapted from one country to another. Vocational training is often a reflection of how a country values and pays its workers. The Australian model of workplace training reflects a very different philosophy towards labour and occupations in a country with a reasonably high minimum wage. It should not be believed that Hong Kong’s heavy reliance on an exam system of learning will embrace workplace learning. It should also be remembered that many students and parents aspire to a more professional role than these work-based learning programmes offer.

It is worth remembering that even though a tertiary education is one pathway to success in life it is not the only one.  A vocational education can open a rewarding and profitable career path for a young individual.  Many of the most successful people in Hong Kong started off in a vocational area.  For example Mr Stanley Ho began his work life on a construction site.

Choosing a Broadband Company

Choosing Broadband Company

In these days of economic uncertainty, it is often nice to not have to worry about certain things, which is why getting set up with broadband can be such a good idea.  There are a number of different kinds of broadband that you can get, but possibly the best thing about your connection is that you can run your television, telephone and internet services through the same broadband connection and not have to worry about the bills.  Of course, there will be a bill, but there will only be one bill for all of these services, so once that bill is paid, you don’t have to worry about also paying for your cable, or also paying for your telephone line.  It’s all done, and probably for a lot less than it would cost if you had all the services separate.

This is why you should look at Virgin broadband, or BT broadband, in order to see whether you can get broadband service from them.  It is becoming increasingly normal to combine all your cable services into one package from a giant such as Virgin broadband or BT broadband in order to cut down on the number of bills coming in.  It makes it easier to organize your finances and if anything goes wrong, there is only one number to call.

Of course, it is imperative that you check what is available before committing your money to any particular company or product.  After all, this is your money and it is important to you.  It is also important that you are happy with the service and product that you end up buying, as you will be paying for this for quite some time to come (unless free broadband deals become the norm).  It is also usually far easier to change your mind before you start a service with someone, rather than afterwards.  All those helpful salespeople tend to melt away after they have your money, as their job is to take it off you in the first place, not to solve the problems that may arise afterwards.  That is the job of the technical support department and they might not have such winning ways about them.  They should, of course, but that doesn’t always mean anything at all in today’s world.

So go online and do some research before you throw your money at any particular company.  The number of websites that will happily tell you about broadband deals is quite impressive and you will find it very easy to find out everything you need to know just from a few minutes online.  You can even use a comparison website to compare the various broadband deals so that you know whether Virgin broadband or BT broadband is the better way to go. The website will let you know what they offer in such a way that you can compare the two side by side.  You can also look up the more complicated terms online (what does 12MB actually mean, anyway?) and you can also find out whether or not that speed of connection is even available in your area, which is a good idea, as it may not be and then you will have to set your heart on something else.

Business Law Issues

Business Law Issues

Any business, whether it’s owning a retail store or being an independent building contractor, has certain things in common. Aside from knowing the trade or business involved, the proprietor needs certain other skills that are required to keep the business running.

One of the first and most important things a business owner needs to know is basic accounting and tax law. Operating a business without keeping accounting records in the manner prescribed by state and federal law can end the business more surely than any other mistake a business owner can make. Large businesses may be able to hire an accountant or an accounting firm to handle their book-keeping and tax matters. Small business owners often take care of their own book-keeping as a way to save money. Either way, the owner is ultimately responsible for any errors, omissions, or other faults in the company’s books or tax filings, so it behooves the owner to be both knowledgeable in the area and to keep an eye on any third party or employee who is handling these matters.

In any business, there is the potential for disputes with customers. Customers may have had unrealistic expectations or the business owner may have been unable to fulfill an obligation due to circumstances beyond their control. Whatever the cause of the dispute, ending up in court is often the worst way to settle it. Legal fees and bad publicity for the business can cost more than just giving the customer what they want in some cases. A business owner needs to be aware of the laws governing contracts and dispute resolution in the state or states in which they do business. Many disputes can be avoided altogether through the use of a very specific contract that is signed by the customer before any work commences. Of course, contractual agreements are primarily used in business sectors such as building contracting in which each customer interaction is unique.

Building contractors also need to know building codes appropriate to the trades in which they are doing work. Building codes vary from state to state and even between different municipalities. If operating outside of their usual area, a building contractor must check local building codes before doing any work. Furthermore, due diligence on local codes should be done before the quote is offered since there may be some local ordinance that will affect the cost of the work to be done.

For building contractors, these types of issues are covered in the business law section of the California State Contractor’s License Exam. In other words, if you don’t have a good working knowledge of these issues and the rules surrounding them, you won’t pass the exam and get licensed. Other business owners need to take the initiative on their own to learn these things before they open their doors.

Unique Wine Accessories

TheTipsyGrape.com sells wine accessories online. They don’t sell wine itself, mind you, just wine accessories. Wine accessories are things that are related to wine and wine drinking. The category includes things like etched wine glasses, books, corkscrews, kitchen décor items, and even a variety of games. That’s just for starters; The Tipsy Grape has an online catalog of hundreds of unique wine related items that are perfect for gift giving or for adding to your own kitchen.

There are many unique interpretations of classic standby items like the corkscrew. There is of course the rabbit corkscrew which requires flipping a lever back and forth to pull the cork out of a wine bottle with a unique arrangement of threaded cams. There’s the faucet corkscrew which is placed on top of the sealed wine bottle and then the water faucet handle is spun until the cork pops out. The winner of the most unique corkscrew and guaranteed conversation starter is the Legacy Pops III Cork Removal System. It can’t exactly be called a corkscrew since there is no screwing involved. The Legacy Pops III is placed on the top of the wine bottle and a special hollow needle penetrates the cork through to the inside of the bottle. A button on top of the Legacy Pops III is pressed and, voila, a tiny pressurized gas cylinder is opened pouring an inert gas into the bottle until the pressure is too much for the cork and it pops free of the bottle. If you haven’t seen the Legacy Pops III cork removal system, go to TheTipsyGrape.com now and check it out.

They also have a variety of wine chillers. White wine and champagne, of course, need to be served cold, but unless you store wine in the refrigerator, that means planning ahead. For those spontaneous moments when you feel like a glass of white, or a guest requests one, The Tipsy Grape has Rapid Ice Wine or Champagne chillers. The Rapid Ice chillers are flexible and fold flat to fit in the freezer. Once they are frozen, they can be taken out on a moment’s notice and will chill a bottle of white wine or champagne to the correct temperature in just ten minutes. Other, more elegant wine chillers available from The Tipsy Grape will insulate a pre-chilled bottle for the entire evening.

Some of the more unique wine related items available from The Tipsy Grape are in the wine themed candles section. A ceramic wick holder (with adjustable wick) can be inserted into an empty wine bottle filled with lamp oil to make a unique oil lamp for less than five dollars. A cute little glass chimney can be added to make it even more unique. On the more conventional side, there are 7” tall wax candles shped and decorated like miniature champagne bottles.

These are just a few of the many interesting and unusual wine accessories and wine themed items that can be found at The Tipsy Grape. If you are a wine enthusiast or just enjoy an occasional glass you’ll find something that will catch your fancy at TheTipsyGrape.com.

The Importance of the Medical Scales for our Pets

The Importance of the Medical Scales for our Pets

As adults, we hope our weight stays more or less the same when we step on the medical scales at the doctor’s office with each visit. For the most part it usually does. It may be a few pounds up or down, but the main importance of the doctor’s scales once we’re older is to track trends in our weight over time. Frankly, we don’t really need the doctor to tell us when we’re gaining or losing weight. The fit of our trousers tell us that. As do our own bathroom scales.

On the other hand, when we bring our pets to the veterinarian, the weight of our pets is a little more important. Not only does the veterinarian track out pets’ weight to see if they are gaining or losing, but they also need to know the weight within pretty tight limits to determine the proper dosage of any medicines they might be receiving. When you think about it, if we gain or lose a few pounds, it’s really a small percentage of our total body weight. When a cat or dog gains or loses a few pounds, it’s usually a much more substantial percentage of their body weight. It may even change the required dosage of medicines and preventative drugs like HartGard if the change puts them into a different weight class.

When your dog steps up onto the floor scales in the veterinarian’s office their health is really at stake. Giving them the dosage of these medicines for a smaller dog risks leaving them with an insufficient amount of the drug to have its proper effects. While giving a higher dosage to a dog that has lost weight may result in giving the dog more of the medicine than is either needed or safe.

Weight also has a profound effect on the lifespan and overall health of cats and dogs. While we might see gaining a little extra weight as a normal sign of getting older and less active, there’s really no excuse for letting our dogs and cats eat too much. Overweight cats have a much higher incidence of life-threatening conditions like diabetes or kidney failure if they are overweight. Dogs, on the other hand, tend to experience some of the same health conditions that humans have when they carry too much weight. In dogs, the incidence of heart disease, shortness of breath, fatigue, and arthritis all go up dramatically with weight gain.

Dogs and cats really have no choice over their weight. It’s up to us to feed them the proper foods in the proper amounts. Table scraps, while very tasty, are not good for dogs as they often contain a very high ratio of calories to nutritional value. The portions of food that our pets get largely determines their weight, and that portion size is up to us.

Keeping your pets healthy and keeping them around longer is largely dependent upon keeping them fit and trim. If you notice a weight change in your pet of even a few pounds when they step on the floor scales, bring it up to your veterinarian and ask them about proper portion sizes for your cat or dog.

Preserving your Memories After a Hard Drive Failure

Preserving your Memories After a Hard Drive Failure

Of all of our possessions, family photos are perhaps the most precious. They are so precious that many people cite them as the one thing they would want to save (other than pets and family, of course) if their house was on fire. Today, the majority of our photos is taken with digital cameras and is immediately transferred to our hard drives for storage.

In the old days of film cameras, we had an automatic back-up copy after the film was developed. It was called a negative, and as long as we had the negative, we could always get more pictures printed up to replace any that were lost or damaged. These days, we’re not so lucky. If we want a back-up copy of our digital photos, we have to take some extra actions.

Some people burn a CD-ROM or a DVD-r every time they empty the camera onto the hard drive, but these are the minority of digital camera users. Most people just store them on the hard drive and leave them there. A few select photos may get emailed to relatives, but for the most part, we keep only on single copy stored in one single location.

Unfortunately, hard drives have a limited lifespan. If the hard drive is the only place we store our photos, then all of those precious family photos have a limited lifespan as well. If a hard drive lasts five years, with daily use, then it’s beating the odds. Once it fails, it becomes unreadable and you can no longer access anything that was stored on the drive, including your irreplaceable family photos.

In many cases, however, it is possible to recover those photos and other important files from your failed hard drive. Unfortunately, most people have never heard of data recovery, the process that might help them recover files from their failed drive. Data recovery services are able to extract data from hard drives and other digital storage media that is unreadable by ordinary means. Whether it has failed, been damaged physically, been corrupted by a virus, or even accidentally erased, a good data recovery house can still get at the data that was stored on the drive.

Data recovery is not a free service, but when you consider the sentimental value of the family photos that are locked up on that defective hard drive, it’s a bargain. Data recovery is one area where you don’t necessarily want to go with the lowest priced option. Unskilled data recovery technicians can actually cause more damage to the hard drive making it even more difficult to get your photos back. Worse yet, is that many of the lower quality data recovery houses will charge you whether they give you back your files or not. Quality data recovery companies recognize that you are paying for results not just the old college try. If they can’t get your files back for you, the top data recovery houses won’t charge you a dime.

Of course, the best way to make sure you don’t lose your family photos is to make regular back up copies of all of your files, or to make 2 duplicate photo CDs of every new set of pictures as soon as they are transferred to the hard drive. Then if something does happen to the hard drive, you’ve got everything you need stored away ready to be reloaded on a new hard drive.

Dogs: Why a Person May Want to Adopt

Adopt a dog

Pets are some of the most amazing creatures on earth. Over the history of civilization, people have used pets for a myriad of different reasons. They are great additions to the family, they can cheer a person up and they can even fill a void that may be in a person’s life. Fortunately, there are quite a few different pets that are available to anyone who may seek them. With all of the pet options available, people generally make the choice to add a dog into their lives. This is a fantastic decision, but then it comes to one of the biggest debates the pet world has ever known: “should I buy a dog or should I adopt one?”

This debate has been raging for quite a long time and has many people up in arms. When it comes to many animal lovers, they usually say that it is a better idea to adopt. While this may not be what many people want to hear, this is simply the best choice. There are very many animals that have been abandoned and they do not particularly have any place to go. This means that they are put into shelters and are waiting for people to discover them and take them to their homes.

This is becoming more and more popular with all of the commercials that people are starting to see where they show some adorable animals really in need. Animals are in need because there are many shelters that are overcrowded, and they are filling up at an alarming rate. Because of this reason, there is simply no place for these animals to go. This creates the need for people to take these animals from the shelter and care for them in their homes.

Fortunately, most of these animals are just as good as getting one from a breeder or pet store. They usually have been abandoned for no real reason, and they make great companions in the home. Generally, the adopted animal is pretty friendly and they love people just as much as that cute puppy does.

One worthwhile thing to note is the fact that they may not be puppies, and they may be a little rough around the edges. One thing that they do not lack is love and people usually find that they love their adopted pet more than the pet that they would have bought. On top of this fact, a prospective dog owner can take pride in knowing that they saved an animal’s life and provided it with the care that it deserves. This is something that many other dog owners cannot say, as the perfectly groomed puppy will always find a home, while the older pet may not.

Adopting a pet is a very responsible thing for anyone to do, and people who do will tell a person that it is one of the best things that they can say that they have done. If a person wants to make a change, they should seriously consider adopting their next pet.

Tramadol’s History

Author: Mike S

The History of Tramadol
Pharmacology is of the methodical areas that are concerned with the drug breakthrough practice.  It is a squad of specialists who test drug substances for physiological analysis because there are disparities between how substances act and what they do.

The augment in substance data has been the progress of the contemporary pharmaceutical conscientiousness.  The discipline of pharmacy emerged steadily from the conservative empiricism of the herbalist, but by 19th century, there had been several imperative undertakings in the analysis of existing drugs and in the foundation of modern ones.

In 1231 Fredrick II, a Roman emperor, estranged the pharmaceutical occupation from the health profession and medical history was altered.  In 1546, Germany had the earliest structured inventory of medical chemicals and substances.  Pharmaceutical science completed an imperative goal in the direction of an enhanced institute.

Knowing the history of anything can help people feel more involved and intimate with it because it provides the ability to trust something by knowing it.  Doctors must establish trust with their patients and so must the medication.  The point is to heal and if patients won’t trust their medication, then they won’t take it, thus leading to not healing.

Tramadol is an active ingredient contained in products that help relieve pain, a vital need for suffering patients.  Grünenthal GmbH was founded in 1946 in Germany after World War II.  Their goal was to provide relief to their suffering countrymen by providing medicines.  The pain medication was mostly medicinal herbs which they grew on their leased land.  In 1948, Grünenthal bought the first penicillin medication on the market.  They’ve been fighting pain and suffering since 1946 and have grown into one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world.

Grünenthal inflated its merchandise range by collaboration with additional pharmaceutical companies and by performing research on its own.  In 1962, Tramadol was discovered and the development of Tramal began.  Fifteen years after incessant study, Tramal was introduced.  This particle transformed the pain killer industry for the reason that it is unlike other opioids; it’s multifunctional.

Having signed agreements with companies such as Ortho-McNeil and Takeda, Grünenthal isn’t unaided in the hostile resistance to disease.  Together, these companies work to investigate and develop first-class medicine and distribute their medicines in various countries.

Of course, this isn’t the entirety of the tale.  Once prescription Tramadol was released, other companies began to market it with a wide range of brand names and pharmaceutical forms.

Tramadol has been improved to provide patients with a speedier pain relief than when first released in 1977.  Tramadol’s entire future lies in the hands of doctors and patients alike, as well as in the hands of the pharmaceutical companies who will be improving it to make it the very best in its class.

We must take care of ourselves; life and health are valuable possessions we cannot replace like clothing.  Grünenthal has worked to defend our health from the time when its establishment arrived.

This account has been spotlighted on the advancement of a pharmaceutical good.  It is not merely connected with the past, but with the future of health also.  The Tramadol history has not yet found an end and this is marked as a positive light.  You can buy Tramadol no prescription from an online pharmacy and this will usually ensure that you are buying the cheapest Tramadol that you can find.

The Majesty of Grand Cathedrals

The Majesty of Grand Cathedrals

The grand old medieval cathedrals were designed to instill a sense of awe in those who saw the buildings from the outside as they soared higher than any other building of its time. Soaring towers were held aloft by grand flying buttresses. The interior was equally grand with halls bigger than any indoor space that existed at the time. The interior was illuminated by sunlight streaming through grand glass windows and upper level clerestories. The grand chambers also impressed acoustically.

When the voice of the priest boomed and reverberated throughout the chamber, it seemed imbued with holy power. Grand pipe organs likewise played bass notes deeper than anyone of the time had ever heard when they were first introduced. Powerful tones were amplified by the echoes giving the presentation extra audio grandeur.

Today’s church buildings are quite different. Instead of being financed with the wealth of kingdoms, church buildings are often built with the modest charitable contributions of the parishioners. Building goals are often based on functionality and budget rather attempting to match the monumental grandeur of medieval cathedrals. Church acoustics are often an afterthought.

Often acoustics are not considered at all in the initial design and become a focus only when the building is completed and a problem is discovered. Acoustic issues can range from standing waves affecting bass notes if the service includes musical instruments, to a lack of vocal intelligibility caused by reverberations and echoes as the sound waves bounce of the hard surfaces of ceilings and walls.

In modern buildings, when these issues are discovered, acoustic treatments can be added to correct these issues. Acoustic insulation can be added to help keep the sounds of worship from leaking out through the building walls and disturbing the churches neighbors if it is built in a crowded urban setting. Materials like Owens Corning 703, a rigid fiberglass material, can be used to help reduce audible echoes from solid surfaces inside the church building. This can help improve vocal intelligibility to make sure that the message being delivered is audible and clear to every listener within the church building.

While few modern churches contain pipe organs, many do contain modern bands with musical instruments like bass guitars and drums that can also produce very deep bass notes. Depending upon the specific design of the hall, these notes may produce a phenomenon known as standing waves which can cause specific areas of the hall to receive an unpleasant overemphasis of bass notes while others may experience a null zone in which the bass tones seem muted or unnaturally subdued. The addition of bass traps and other readily available acoustic treatments can help correct these issues after the building is completed, although acoustic considerations should be part of the initial design criteria for buildings such as churches in which sound is a primary focus of the building’s use.

FTA For Dummies

Many of us are inclined to just float along and not rock the boat when it comes to our TV viewing. We continue to pay our subscriptions to cable or satellite TV month after month, not realizing that there is a way around the high cost of TV programming, FTA satellite TV. For those not in the know about state of the art technological innovations, let’s hope that this article provides some insight into how to beat the high cost of satellite or cable TV programming.

FTA is the acronym for Free to Air TV programming. Exactly as the name implies, FTA TV is free for the viewing if you have the proper equipment to receive the signals. The proper equipment consists of a satellite system similar to the satellite system you may already own. The difference is this, your subscription satellite system is designed to pick up encrypted signals, decode them and make the programming ready for viewing. It is through the control of encrypted signal that subscription services are able to charge fees. Without the ability to decode encrypted signals, a subscription satellite system is worthless. Try not paying your monthly bill and see what happens; your satellite service provider will deactivate decoding for your system and you will no longer be able to view programming.

FTA systems are identical to subscription systems with the exception being that FTA systems are designed to pick up unencrypted signals. An FTA system does not need to decode signals to allow viewing. This is the key to FTA, unencrypted signals are transmitted from countries worldwide, picked up by satellites in space and rebroadcast by these satellites, still unencrypted. These unencrypted signals are there for the taking, so to speak. Anyone with an FTA satellite system can pick up these unencrypted signals absolutely free; no fees, no subscriptions and no contracts.

What a beautiful thing for anyone who would like to pick up programming from other countries. Currently, programming from over 120 countries is available on FTA. Especially for non-native residents, FTA provides a great way to get news and other programming from home. To find out more about what countries broadcast over FTA and what programming is available, go online and use a search engine to find FTA information. There are numerous websites dedicated to furthering free TV; they provide not only lists of countries and available programming, but they provide set up coordinates for dishes as well.

Two types of systems are available, single or multiple satellite systems. After looking into FTA, you may decide you will only be watching programming from one satellite, so a single, fixed dish will work fine for you. But if you decide you would like to watch programming from multiple satellites, you will need a rotor system so that your dish will move to hone in on the various satellites you wish to receive signals from.

FTA satellite systems are incredibly affordable. For around $495 you can buy a complete, multi-satellite system online that allows you access to a whole new world of viewing pleasure. This package includes everything you need to get your FTA programming. You simply should not miss the chance to watch viewing from all over the world for free!

Everything else is the same as the Standard Grade pop up display. Being that the purpose and use of the Photo Mural Grade pop up is predicated upon photography, only the best photographic production methods are utilized.

The Fabric Mural Grade pop up displays are another sturdy built model with a non-curving frame, highlighted by a fabric graphic mural that is replaceable. The mural is firmly fixed to the frame, which makes setup a breeze. The amazing thing about this type of pop up display is that they offer full photo-mural effects without the difficulty often associated with setup. They can be easily transported in a lightweight nylon bag or in a shipping case.

The Wall Frame pop up displays are actually not bona-fide pop ups; however, they do come equipped with a rectangular shaped frame that’s easy to erect.
